The Masur Museum of Art’s Annual Juried Competition showcases contemporary artists throughout the country working in any medium. This year, a selection of Carla's Refugee Series will be featured, including the painting Rasha; Refugee from Iraq pictured below. Carla Crawford's painting Halflight is included in this months issue of Western Art and Architecture in the article Beyond Skin Deep which focuses on the work of a dozen contemporary painters and their exploration of the self portrait.
Two Carla Crawford paintings will be included in the Butler Institute of American Arts 80th National Midyear Exhibition this summer including Ajmal; Refugee from Afghanistan, pictured below. The show will be on view from June 26th until August 28th, 2016 and an exhibition catalogue featuring all art works will be printed and available for purchase during the exhibition. Carla Crawford's painting, Roxanne, was selected as a finalist for the Portrait Society of America's International Portrait competition in Washington DC. Only twenty five finalists were selected out of 2,439 entries. The selected work will be on view at the annual Art of the Portrait conference the weekend of April 16th. Carla Crawford's painting Reverie will be included in the 53rd Annual Juried Exhibition at the Masur Museum of Art in Monroe, Louisiana, opening on March 12th. This year's competition showcases 384 contemporary artists from 42 states and Washington D.C. working in a wide variety of mediums. It will truly give you a sense of best studio practices by artists working all over the country. The show will be on view through the beginning of July. The Haynes Gallery’s exhibition, "Celebrating the Art of Women by Women" which brings together the figurative work by many of contemporary Realism’s female artists, including Carla Crawford, is featured in the new October issue of American Art Collector magazine. The show was first presented at the gallery’s summer location in Maine but now travels to the Nashville gallery for a fall run. More information on the opening can be found here.
